White Lake approves alcohol sales, Bladen sales tax hike fails again
WHITE LAKE, NC (WWAY) — White Lake is no longer dry.
Voters have spoken and approved alcohol sales within the Bladen County town.
Just over 61.3 percent of the voters gave the thumbs up to the sale of unfortified wine. A total of 333 votes were cast.
About the same percentage, 61.8, of people voted for the sale of malt beverage. Three-hundred thirty-five votes were cast in this contest.
Residents had said White Lake was somewhat divided over whether to allow the sales.
Meanwhile for the third time in two years, voters in Bladen County were asked to increase the sales tax by a quarter of a penny. Once again, that ballot question failed. This time 64 percent of voters said no.
