White party raises money for HIV, AIDS

WILMINGTON — If you were in downtown Wilmington Sunday night you may have seen a lot of people wearing white. If so, chances are, they were going to the second annual Coastal White Party.

The Coastal Carolina Consortium hosted the event to support those affected by HIV or AIDS.

White was the party’s theme color.

There was live music, food, drinks and even ice sculptures.

Last year the consortium raised $8,000. And this year they expect to raise even more.
All the money goes to help those with HIV and AIDS.

Coastal Carolina Consortium Board Chair Sucora Anderson said, “When one person is infected then were all infected. Part of vision is to remove the stigma that surrounds this disease and to provide a safe and supporting environment for those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.”

The consortium is a non-profit organization that provides outpatient health and support services to people with HIV and AIDS.
