Whiteville town manager dismissed

On Tuesday night, Whiteville City Council voted four to three to dismiss Josh Ray as town manager.

Ray had been city manager for nearly 3 years.

City council members say they hope to replace ray as soon as possible, but in the meantime, a temporary manager will fill his seat.

Mayor Dial Gray wouldn’t comment when we called him today, but according to previously published reports, the mayor said insubordination and a lack of communication contributed to Ray’s ineffectiveness.
