A whole new meaning to riding “shotgun”
Time: 11:49 a.m. – Friday morning
Location: 1000 Saint Andrews Dr.
Offense: Possession of Firearm by Felon
Summary: WPD officers responded to a reported sighting of a man carrying a shotgun wrapped in a flannel shirt. They found the man standing next to a bus stop. The man told them he was going to get on the next bus.
As officers got closer, they saw the flannel shirt lying on the ground with a 12-gauge shotgun partially concealed in the sleeve of the shirt. The man, Patrick Andrew Davis, d.o.b. 6-11-1989, of Leland was detained and subsequently was charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
The shotgun was loaded with a single shell, and Davis had three more shells in his pocket. He was taken to New Hanover County detention facility where he was placed under $7,000 secured bond. (WPD officers have had previous contacts with Davis under suspicious circumstances, including a prior incident at a bus stop, but there was no legal reason at that time to charge him).
