Wilmington Antique Show & Sale rings in 48 years
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — As one of the oldest shows in North Carolina, The Wilmington Antique Show & Sale could be called an antique as well. This weekend marked 48 years for the show.
From furniture, to rugs, to any vintage item you can think of, dealers brought hundreds of items to the Coastline Convention Center. A silent auction also took place, benefiting the Brigade Boys and Girls club. Organizers and vendors said shows like this help look back at the story of each item.
“It’s just a wonderful time to look back and see what your grandmother had in her house, for one thing. Even if you’re not interested in buying. But of course, we hope everyone will buy. But it’s just treasures that belong to someone else and then they can be your treasure,” Antique show co-chairman, Teresa Lee, said.
It’s like a book that never ends. It has a story. Somebody’s grandmother used it for this and it’s used for that. Somebody can just keep going on and on and on. So, if someone loves history, you’ll love antiques,” an Antique Show vendor, Basil Williams, said.
All proceeds from the show will benefit local charities, projects and scholarships.
