Wilmington-area Walmart employees getting raise
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For more than 2,900 Walmart and Sam’s Club employees in the Wilmington area, an upcoming paycheck is going to see a nice bump.
According to a news release, the employees are part of more than 48,000 employees in the state to see a raise on their March 10 paycheck. The release said employees hired before January 1, 2016 will earn at least $10/hour. New entry-level positions will start at $9/hour. The spokesperson said employees will also share more than $26.2 million in quarterly cash bonuses.
A Walmart spokesperson said the move is part of the company’s two-year, $2.7 billion investment to help wages, training, educational opportunities and other initiatives.
