Wilmington Cemetery honors the fallen for Memorial Day

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Monday is Memorial Day, a time to honor Americans who have died in active military service.

Across the Cape Fear, flags will be marking graves this weekend.

In New Hanover County, the Wilmington National Cemetery has its grounds ready with more than 5,000 flags flying on graves.

The cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
