Wilmington council to consider parking changes
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A decision by Wilmington City Council tonight could soon make it more expensive to park downtown.
The city is trying to overcome a projected $800,000 shortfall in next year’s parking fund.
Proposed changes include extending the time for charging for on-street parking to 9 p.m. Council will also consider changing the first 90-minutes free in the city’s Second and Market Street decks to first hour free as well as increasing the the nightly/event/daily maximum fee from $5 to $7.
Council may also change the current one-hour on-street parking limit between 000-300 blocks of North Front Street to two-hours to make it consistent with the rest of the Central Business District.
City council meets at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
