Wilmington council to vote on $700K renovations for city offices

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington City Council will vote Tuesday night on more than $700,000 for renovations to the city’s office complex at 305 Chestnut Street and City Hall.

A city spokeswoman says 305 Chestnut Street has not seen any significant improvements since the city bought it more than 20 years ago.

The renovations to City Hall involve the conversion of the first floor conference room into shared office space for city council.

Mayor Pro-tem Margaret Haynes says she is looking forward to the much needed renovations.

“The members of city council have absolutely no where to meet constituents, and we’re meeting in coffee shops and going to people’s businesses, and it’s just inappropriate,” Haynes said.

Funding for the project is already included in this year’s budget.

Council will vote Tuesday at its regular meeting at City Hall at 6:30 p.m.
