Wilmington farmer’s market helping those without SNAP funds due to government shutdown

Wilmington, NC (WWAY)– The Wilmington farmers market opened its arms to people on Saturday for people struggling without SNAP benefits due to the government shutdown.

Located on Oleander Drive, the farmer’s market allowed people to line up and show their EBT card to receive helpful benefits. Dozens of people were given “tokens”, that totaled 45 dollars to spend on eligible food items at the market.

The Wilmington farmer’s market says they will continue helping people out every Saturday during this month.
