Wilmington Fire Dept. hopes to send another firefighter to premier training

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department is trying to send another one of its honored members to the fire department instructors conference free of charge.

The conference is premiere training event for the American fire service.  Honeywell sends 20 deserving firefighters from across the country free of charge to the FDIC in Indianapolis in April. The event costs roughly $2,000.

Last year the WFD nominated Carmen Delia and he was picked to go.

This year, the Wilmington Fire Department posted a video about Eric Earnhardt and why they say he deserves to go. His coworkers said he has been a firefighter for 30 years, but he is so much more than just that. Several of them said he is a leader, a friend a mentor, and just a top notch human being. The list goes on.
