Wilmington hit-and-run victim dies, police looking for info on driver

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY ) – The victim of Wednesday night’s hit and run has died.

It happened around 7:00 p.m. near Market Street and S. Kerr Avenue in Wilmington.

Police say Donald Salter, 63, was crossing the street when a vehicle hit him. Salter died from his injuries.

Police say the driver of the vehicle never stopped. Police say the vehicle was a 2007-2013 model Chevrolet or GMC truck or suv and has damage to the side view mirror. If you have any information about this crash, call the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3609 or send info to Text-A-Tip.

(In an earlier version of this story, the victim was identified as Ronald Salter.  Wilmington police say at the time of the crash, the victim game police his twin brother’s name. Family has now identified him as Donald.)
