Wilmington Housing Authority CEO asks for leave of absence after another DWI arrest
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — For the second time since taking over as CEO of the Wilmington Housing Authority, Michael Krause has been arrested for DWI.
Wilmington Police spokeswoman Linda Rawley says an officer pulled Krause over in the 700 block of Windemere Road yesterday at 4:28 p.m. Rawley said Krause was also cited for having no operator’s license.
Krause started working at WHA in 2008. In 2009 he was charged with DWI. He later pleaded guilty and was fined and sentenced to 24 hours community service.
An assistant said Krause was out of the office this week and would not be back until later this week. She said his absence was previously scheduled.
WHA Board member Jeff Hovis said this afternoon Krause asked for a leave of absence beyond what was already scheduled. He also said the WHA will hold a special meeting soon to discuss the matter. He said by law they must give a 48-hour public notice before holding that meeting.
