Wilmington International Airport discusses past year

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington International Airport held its annual meeting with New Hanover County Commissioners this morning.

On the agenda, the progress ILM has had over the past 12 months.

Items discussed include the number of passengers the airport had in that time span, which was more than 800,000 travelers, a 6.2-percent increase from last year.

They also broke down the economic impact the airport had in 2015, raking in $1.6 billion and in turn, creating nearly 5,000 jobs.

The busiest day of the year so far this year was May 8, during the Wells Fargo Championship.
