Wilmington International Airport has doubled its output since 2012, study says
WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — Wilmington International Airport has more than doubled its economic impact during the past four years, according to a state report.
In 2012, the last time the state conducted a similar report, the airport supported 3,483 jobs, a number that swelled to 4,910 in 2016.
This year, the airport will contribute $1.6 billion to the region, according to the 2016 Economic Impact of Airports in North Carolina report, prepared for the N.C. Department of Transportation by N.C. State’s Institute for Transportation Research and Education. According to the last report, in 2012, the airport provided $641.46 million in economic impact.
