Wilmington man accused in felony hit and run

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is facing felony hit-and-run charges after hitting a pedestrian near downtown Wilmington and leaving the scene.
According to a Wilmington Police Department spokesperson, officers were called to the 800 block of South 5th Avenue just after 3pm on June 25th.
When they arrived, they found a woman lying on the ground with serious injuries. Witnesses told police the woman had been hit by a vehicle and that the person driving took off…and turned onto Dawson Street, in the wrong direction.
During the investigation, officers say they found the vehicle involved at the home of 36-year-old Donald Scott Pachilis. When police questioned Pachilis, they say he admitted he hit the woman, panicked and took off.
Pachilis was arrested and charged with felony Hit-and-Run, One Way Violation and Improper Turn.
He was released under a $15,000 secured bond.
