Wilmington man accused in samurai sword attack arrested


CHARLESTON, SC (WCIV) –  A Wilmington man officials say stabbed two people with a samurai sword was taken into custody  Wednesday.

John Michael Juba was located by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service in Isle of Palms. A warrant for his arrest states the 27-year-old attacked two people with a “katana like sword” on Dec. 5, 2016.

 Incident reports provided by the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office indicate the altercation occurred during an attempted purchase of items advertised on the social media app OfferUp. According to the report, one victim was stabbed in the abdomen as he bent down to grab an item off the floor of the home. A woman was stabbed in the rear of her left thigh as she attempted to run.
