Wilmington man arrested for insurance fraud
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — State investigators have charged a Wilmington man with insurance fraud.
Department of Insurance Criminal Investigators say Peter Dane Koke, 49, of 226 S. Front Street, provided false information in August when claiming his car was stolen. Koke is accused of falsely claiming he repaired damage to his vehicle from on accident on July 3 to receive a higher payment.
Investigators allege Koke also made a fraudulent statement claiming he did not have felony convictions in the past 10 years on an insurance application on August 7.
Koke was arrested in New Hanover County and placed under a $50,000 bail.
The NC Department of Public Safety website shows Koke has a criminal history that includes a felony conviction of obtaining property by false pretense in 2008 along with several misdemeanor convictions dating back to 2001.
