Wilmington man sentenced as habitual felon

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –A repeat offender is heading to prison for at least six years after pleading guilty to drug charges.

Superior Court Judge Jay Hockenberry sentenced Rangiloe Marshall, 40, of Wilmington, to 72-99 months of imprisonment as a habitual felon.

Marshall pleaded guilty to trafficking heroin, possession with intent to sell cocaine and misdemeanor child abuse.

On September 25, 2014, New Hanover County Sheriff’s narcotics detectives served a search warrant at Marshall’s home on South Lincoln Court. Marshall and a child were at the home. During the search, Marshall asked for a pair of jeans. When officers got them, cocaine fell out of the pocket. In a search of Marshall’s bedroom, narcotics officers found five grams of heroin packaged for sale. Marshall admitted to law enforcement that the drugs were his.

“My office is committed to persecuting people who continue to poison our community and endanger children with heroin,” District Attorney Ben David said in a news release.
