Wilmington man charged in connection with recent shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police charged a man in connection with a recent shooting.
It happened Thursday after 5:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Greenfield Street.
On person was shot and taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Stephen Michael Barnett, 37 of Wilmington, is charged with accessory after the fact to attempted murder.
Wilmington Police said Barnett will be taken to the New Hanover County Detention Facility.
His bond has not yet been released.
A New Hanover County spokesman released a statement saying, “On Monday evening, March 25, Stephen Barnett, Supervisor for Mediation and Outreach at Port City United, was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact in connection with the shooting incident that occurred at Houston Moore on March 21. Mr. Barnett has been on administrative leave since Thursday, March 21, and remains so pending final county action. New Hanover County is fully cooperating with the Wilmington Police Department in its investigation. In keeping with our dedication to transparency, we will provide updates when possible, respecting the integrity of the ongoing investigation.”
Police said additional arrests are expected.
