Wilmington man convicted of robbing Burgaw Family Dollar

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man is going to prison for robbing the Burgaw Family Dollar last year.

The district attorney’s office says Stacy Rodgers, 47, pleaded guilty to robbery with a dangerous weapon for the crime.

In 2015, Rodgers walked into the Family Dollar in Burgaw and gave the cashier a note demanding money, according to a release.

After Rodgers showed the employee what she believed was a gun, the release says the cashier gave him cash and he took off.

Burgaw Police caught up with Rodgers as he tried to escape on the ramp to I-40.

Rodgers was sentenced to up to 9 years in prison.
