WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — A Wilmington man who police say had two dozen homemade bombs in his Patrick Avenue home was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to 64 months, or 5.3 years, in prison.
Erik Arnebold, 38, pleaded guilty Aug. 4 in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina to one count of “making firearms, specifically, 24 destructive devices,” according to court records. In exchange for his plea, a charge of “possession of firearms, specifically, 24 destructive devices,” was dismissed.
In addition to the federal prison sentence, Senior Judge James C. Fox ordered Arnebold to pay a $4,700 fine and attend mental health and substance abuse treatment. Upon his release from prison, Arnebold will serve three years probation.
