Wilmington man sentenced in sex trafficking investigation


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man will spend the next 20 years in prison after forcing women into prostitution in several states in the area.

Randolph Johnson Spain, 26, was sentenced in federal court Wednesday. He was found guilty in January to charges of interstate transportation in support of prostitution. Investigators said Spain took a woman to Myrtle Beach and forced her into prostitution through threats and violence. The investigation revealed he took her and another victim to Virginia and other states and was also involved in the exploitation of other women. He was arrested in the Virginia area in 2010.

Spain’s sentence is the maximum for this offense. He’ll he in a supervised release for 10 years when released.
