Wilmington man sentenced to prison on heroin trafficking charges


WILMINGTON, NC (StarNews) — A Wilmington man was sentenced to a minimum of almost six years in prison this week after pleading guilty to heroin trafficking, according to a New Hanover County District Attorney’s Office news release.

Titus Whitaker, 41, pleaded guilty Nov. 15 before Judge Ebern T. Watson in New Hanover County Superior Court to trafficking in heroin by possession of more than 28 grams, possession with intent to sell and deliver heroin, and two counts of possession of a stolen firearm, the release said.

Whitaker was sentenced Monday to 5.8 to 7.75 years in prison by Judge James Gregory Bell in superior court, according to the release.
