Wilmington man sentenced up to 9 years for home and car break-ins

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington man will spend between 6 and 9 years in prison after pleading guilty to home and car break-ins that happened in October 2016.

Darryl Dean Primo, 55, broke into a car on Dock Street on October 21 and stole a pair of cycling shoes and an ATM card.

Surveillance footage later captured Primo attempting to use the stolen card at a local ATM machine. Days later, Primo broke into a home on South Front Street that was occupied by a couple vacationing from Washington State. He stole multiple items from inside of the house while the victims slept and got away with their rental car that was parked outside. He was stopped later that day in the stolen car by Wilmington Police Department officers. Inside of the car, officers found the cycling shoes taken from the car break-in on Dock Street.

Primo entered guilty pleas to Breaking and Entering, Larceny, Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Financial Card Theft.
