Wilmington mom’s Craigslist ad goes viral

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A local mom just wanted some quick Christmas cash, but got thousands of fans instead, after her Craigslist post went viral.

When Candice Devinney had baby items she needed to get rid of she thought a quick, witty post on Craigslist would attract attention to potential buyers. However, she didn’t anticipate for people as far as California to send e-mails and text messages telling her how funny the post was.

“I was getting texts from everywhere going ‘I saw your ad, I don’t have a baby but it’s hilarious and if you have a blog, I’ll read it,” said Devinney.

She then decided to create a Facebook page, titled “Mommy Misses  and within hours had thousands of followers. She has now created a blog to continue writing her daily anecdotes.

“I would just like to start posting sort of the snippets of my day and what’s going on, and what I think about parenting and how to not take it too seriously,” she said.

Devinney says she’s always wanted to be a writer and thinks the experience is opening doors for her to do so.
