WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington non-profit partnered with the NC Food Bank and is helping feed hundreds of families in need for Thanksgiving.

WRAAP, Wilmington’s Residential Adolescent Achievement Place has been joining forces with the NC Food Bank for eight years.

This year they got together at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church giving away food items.

WRAAP Executive Director Daryl Dockery said the families that come out to the drive are able to enjoy the holiday and not worry about the cost of a Thanksgiving dinner.

“During this economic period there’s a lot of families that are experiencing some challenges, some hardships and to have an opportunity to to actually have some food support during this time period were they can kinda be amongst their family and friends, and have a good meal without having to worry about the fees that come on with that,” Dockery said.

Dockery said when it’s all said and done, they will have given away around 15,000 pounds of food this year and feeding more than 500 families. .
