Wilmington Police arrest man after shots fired into crowd

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police have charged a man after shots were fired into a crowd.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of N. 31st St.
Police responded to the scene after a multiple-round Shotspotter alert.
Witnesses told police William Council, 58, had been in a fight with another man when he entered a home, retrieved a shotgun, and fired through the glass door at a small crowd that had gathered outside to watch the fight.
No one was hit or injured.

Council was arrested and charged with three counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Injury to Real Property, Possession of Firearm by a Felon, and violating city ordinance.

He is being held under a $250,000 secured bond.
