Wilmington Police investigating 2 home invasions
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating two Sunday burglaries. They said they could be connected.
A WPD spokeswoman said the first incident happened around 7:30 p.m. at a home in the 2000-block of Poplar Street. Police said a black male and white male knocked on the front door, forced their way inside and made the 73-year-old male victim cover his eyes when they went through the home and took items including a gun. Police said the suspects were armed, but the victim wasn’t hurt.
The second incident happened just after 9 p.m. at a home in the 2200-block of Wrightsville Avenue. Police said three men, including a white male, black male and possible light-skinned black male entered the home and took items including a gun from the home. Police said the victims in this instance were also not hurt, but the suspects were armed.
Three men were arrested in connection with the second burglary. Police said Clarence Jonathan Nelson, 19, Tre’vaughn Genvine Segar, 17, and Terry Michael Garcia, 19, are facing charges including first degree burglary, armed robbery and kidnapping. Nelson remains in jail under a $400,000 bond. Nelson and Segar were arrested last night, while Garcia was arrested this morning, police said.
