Wilmington police investigating armed robbery that led to shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A man is recovering after being shot in the leg during an armed robbery.

Wilmington police say it happened last night around 11:15 p.m in the 500 block of N. 6th Street.

When police responded, they found a 41-year-old man lying in the street with a gunshot wound in his right thigh.

Police say the victim told him two men with ski masks covering their faces forced him to the ground at gun point and took the keys to his truck. The victim told police he tried chasing after the men but he was shot.

Police found the victim’s truck abandoned near 10th and Rankin Streets.
