Wilmington Police: Man held gun in woman’s face in broad daylight

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a man pointed a gun in a woman’s face when he tried to rob her in broad daylight at a Wilmington housing development Tuesday.

Wilmington Police say it happened just after 11 a.m. when a woman was standing outside in the 1100 block of Thomas C. Jervay Loop, which is in the Jervay Housing Complex near Dawson Street. That’s when officers say the woman heard someone behind her say, “give me all of your money.”

Police say the woman told them when she turned around a man was holding a small handgun, pointing it in her face. Officers say the woman immediately took off running away from the suspect to the other side of the complex. They say the suspect then also took off running in the opposite direction.

Officers say the suspect got away empty-handed. They say the suspect is described as a black male teenager, who is 17 or 18 and about 5’6″ to 5’7″ tall with a skinny build.
