Wilmington Police officer gets FBI Task Force award
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington Police Department officer has been given a big award for his work with the FBI.
Corporal T.J. Waddell received the FBI Wilmington Task Force Officer of the Year award.
Corporal Waddell joined the WPD in 2007 and has been a member of the FBI Wilmington Safe Streets Task Force since 2015.
Corporal Waddell was chosen for the award because of his successful efforts combating violent crime and gang activity.
“We are extremely proud of the work that Corporal T.J. Waddell has accomplished as a member of the FBI Task Force. Our community is safer because of his continuous work in this unit. The FBI is an essential part of our efforts to rid our community of gang violence. We applaud the efforts of this task force and look forward to its continued success,” said Police Chief Ralph Evangelous.
