Wilmington Police respond to reports of clown in woods
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – Wilmington police say they were notified that a resident who lives in Tidewater Townhomes on Greendale Drive spotted a clown in the woods.
WPD spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay says officers responded, but they did not find anything.
Tidewater management sent a memo to residents which reads, “We have been made aware that there have been sightings of a person dressed up as a clown lurking in the woods on the property. Please keep your eyes open for this individual and alert the police ASAP. The Wilmington Police have been notified of these sightings but we are asking for your help as well.”
Lindsay says officers are monitoring the situation and will make a few more stops in the area.
The person who answered the phone at Tidewater Townhomes said they had just returned from vacation and didn’t know anything about it. She referred us to the manager, who will be back in tomorrow.
In recent days, there have been unconfirmed reports of clowns trying to lure children into the woods in both North and South Carolina.
