Wilmington Police still investigating Friday Queen Street shooting
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are still investigating a shooting they say sent a man to the hospital after he was shot in the wrist Friday night.
Wilmington Police say the shooting happened at 1009 Queen Street. That’s where they say officers got an alert after ShotSpotter picked up gunfire. They say when police began searching at the scene, they found several shell casings in the area.
A short time later, police say they got word from hospital staff that a shooting victim was dropped off at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Officers say the victim, who was a 31-year-old man, was shot in the wrist area of his arm.
WPD is still investigating the crime. This was the first of several shootings reported over the weekend, and one of two on Queen street alone.
