Wilmington sex offender charged with child sex crimes


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A registered sex offender in Wilmington is facing new child sex crimes charges.

Timothy James Reid, 41, is charged with rape of a child and indecent liberties with a child.

Wilmington Police arrested him on Tuesday.

According to the sex offender registry, Reid was convicted in 2004 of indecent liberties with a child. The victim in that case was 15-years-old.

NC Department of Public Safety records show he has also been convicted of failing to register as a sex offender and failing to notify a change of address.

He is being held under a $450,000 bond.
