New Hanover County teen accused of raping a child

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old on several child sex abuse charges.

Zachary Carl Hecht is charged with two counts each of first degree rape of a child, first degree sex offense of a child and indecent liberties with a child.

According to arrest warrants, the sexual assaults happened between March of 2014 and May of 2015, when the child was 5 and 6.

The child is now 8-years-old.

Hecht is in jail under a $150,000 bond.
