Wilmington urban food market project moving forward
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new Downtown Wilmington business’ construction is moving along. The Farmin’ on Front team said the construction is well underway on the urban market, on Front Street near the corner of Chestnut Street. We first learned about the planned food market earlier this year.
Molly Crawford, director of Farmin’ Stores, said they are planning for an opening sometime this summer. She said the store will provide fresh produce, a bakery and craft beer.
“It’s more than a grocery store. That’s serving the community,” said Crawford. “To me it’s very important that we are an access point for fresh, healthy food.”
Crawford said they do not have a set schedule for the project but they are hiring right now. She said they intend to hire anywhere between 25 to 40 people.
