Wilmington Wine & Chocolate festival kicks off with a sweet bang

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wine and chocolate are the main course during one big event in the Port City! The 2018 Wilmington Wine & Chocolate Festival is now underway.

The Grand Tasting kicked off the festival Friday night.

Vendors from all over the state brought out their best products and boy did they look delicious!

Aside from wine and chocolate, the event also had live music and a comedy show.

Organizer Joyce Edwards said every year is bigger and better. It is a fun time that’s goal is to give back to the community.

Edwards said the festival raised $40,000 last year but hope this year tops will break that record.

“I hope we raise a lot of funds for the New Hanover County Senior Center because it truly does get to the core of what people need,” Edwards said. “Everybody is a volunteer so there are no payrolls involved. Every dime that’s spent here goes straight to the end user.”

The festival continues Saturday and Sunday where you can browse chocolate, wine, food, and more at the wine and chocolate marketplace.
