Wilmington woman accused of hitting ex-boyfriend with hammer

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman is behind bars after allegedly striking her ex-boyfriend with a hammer over the weekend, according to police.

The Wilmington Police Department says the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of South 13th Street.

26-year-old Mahija Arquanna Williams has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and communicating threats.

Police say the victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Williams is currently being held at the New Hanover County jail on a secured bond.
