Wilmington woman arrested in beating of former boss


NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman is accused of nearly beating her former boss to death with a flashlight.

The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has charged Shawn Deloris Holt, 45, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Lt. Jerry Brewer says on February 4, the victim went to a home in the 5000 block of Sidbury Road to try and retrieve his taxi cab from Holt, an ex-employee he had fired.

Brewer says Holt was there and beat the victim with a flashlight. People in the home called 911.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators searched for Holt for a couple of days, who originally said it was self-defense.

Brewer says they got in touch with Holt yesterday and interviewed her. After the interview, she was arrested.

She is being held in the New Hanover County jail under a $75,000 bond.
