Wilmington woman’s dream comes true after winning $100,000 jackpot
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington woman’s dream of winning a Mega Millions jackpot came true on Tuesday night when she won a $100,000 lottery prize.
Anne Hall stopped by the Circle K on Gordon Road in Wilmington to get a Mega Millions ticket, she also decided to get a Big Money Playbook and some crossword scratch-off tickets.
“I like the games that take longer to play,” Hall said. “I have more fun with them.”
She took the tickets home and after she scratched the crosswords decided to call it a night.
“I went to bed but I had trouble sleeping,” Hall said. “Then I remembered I still had the playbook.”
She got up and started scratching, at first thinking she only won $100, but when she got her glasses she saw the extra zeros.
Hall claimed the prize on Thursday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh.
After required state and federal tax witholdings, she took home $70,756.
She plans to use the money for a down payment on a new house.
The $20 ticket launched in December with three top prizes of $1 million and four $100,000 prizes. Two $1 million prizes remain.
