Wilmington women accused of staging U-Haul crashes


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Five women are facing charges related to insurance fraud investigations.

According to a spokeswoman with the NC Department of Insurance, the women are accused of staging three accidents to get insurance money from three companies: Allstate, Repwest and Wilshire. The accidents happened on Aug. 4, Oct. 10 and Dec. 4, 2015.

Four of the five women have been arrested and charged: Doris Canty, 61, Jessica Denise Goodman, 39, Shaquetta Sade Washington, 20, and Extase Shyneice Pollock, 21. A booking photo of Pollock was not immediately available. The spokeswoman said the women are all facing various charges related to insurance fraud. Goodman was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse, the spokeswoman said.

A fifth woman, Teresa Halsey Pollock, 42, is wanted on charges including felony conspiracy and insurance fraud.
