Wilmington celebrates end of slavery with Juneteenth festival

Juneteenth is an annual celebration of the end of slavery in America.

Dozens of Juneteenth festivals go on across the country, including right here in Wilmington.

Wilmington’s Juneteenth festival dates back to 1995. There are vendors and performers at the festival, and you can learn more about the history of Juneteenth.

Organizers hope people of all races will come together to reflect on this part of history.

The festival begins Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the MLK Center and Robert Strange Park in Wilmington. It should end around seven.
