Wilmington Fire Department promotes 26

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — More than two dozen Wilmington firefighters have a higher rank. The fire department recognized 26 promotions at its annual promotion ceremony this afternoon at City Hall.

Twelve Firefighters were promoted to master firefighters. There are 10 new captains and four new battalion chiefs. In each case, a family member had the privilege of pinning a badge on the newly promoted.

The Wilmington Fire Department experienced a lot of retirements last year. That was certainly a factor in the large number of promotions today.
