Wilmington prepares to host WE Fest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Musicians, artists and their fans will arrive in Wilmington tomorrow from all over the country for the 14th year in a row. Downtown hosts the Wilmington Exchange Festival every Memorial Day weekend.

Better known as WE Fest, the 5 day event includes more than 121 artists. There will be bands playing, dance performances, on-site creation, poetry and 7 different art exhibits.

“There is such a variety,” organizer Cammeron Batanides said. “There is going to be different music, different genres back to back on different stages, so it’s gonna be kinda like you don’t know what to expect as far as genre goes, and then the artists. I don’t know what they are going to be painting I haven’t seen the art for the art opening so its gonna be really exciting.”

Soapbox on Front Street is the main venue for WE Fest. Tickets are $1. For more information visit http://wefestival.com.
