Wilmington residents take on healthcare reform debate
The healthcare reform debate made its way to the Port City Tuesday night. Wilmington residents interested in the issue attended a listening tour sponsored by the grassroots group, Organizing for America.
The Democratic National Committee created the organization to gain backing and ask for input. The state chapter came here to hear how Wilmington residents want to build support for President Obama’s policies.
“People are thrilled to have us here, they’re thrilled to get back involved and most importantly they want to get out and organize support for the president’s policy initiatives,” said Lindsay Siler of Organizing for America. “There’s a lot of energy and lot of enthusiasm.”
Attendees expressed some concerns about current healthcare and discussed ways to get their voices heard in Washington.
