Wilmington Youth Orchestra celebrates spring

Spring is still a couple of weeks away, but the Wilmington Youth Orchestra kicked off the celebration a little early Sunday with its annual spring concert.

It was the seventh concert season for the group. It took place at Kenan Auditorium on the UNCW campus. They played a variety of tunes, including music from Les Miserables and classics from composers like Ricard Wagner.

Violinist Maggie Radack said she expected a diverse turnout. “A lot of families, of course all the families from our students playing and people with kids who like music.”

The Wilmington Youth Orchestra is an educational and outreach program for 9th through 12th graders.
