‘Wilmington’s Most Intriguing People of 2016’ speak at Power Breakfast

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of area business leaders gathered for the last Power Breakfast of 2016.

Usually focused on one topic, Thursday’s quarterly meeting was a little bit different.

Instead of having one speaker, Wilmington’s Five Most Intriguing People of 2016 spoke to the crowd in a ‘Ted Talks’ style event.

“I view it as a live version of the Business Journal,” said Rob Kaiser, publisher of the Greater Wilmington Business Journal. “The nice thing is you get to hear directly from people as opposed to reading their words in the paper or on the screen.”

Speakers included:

Jack Barto, CEO of NHRMC
Tim Markley, Superintendent of New Hanover County Schools
Beth Quinn, Co-Founder of SheRocks
Chuck Schoninger, developer of Pier 33 and Port City Marina
Diane Durance, director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at UNCW

The audience nominated Wilmington’s Five Most Intriguing People of 2016.

Details on the first Power Breakfast of 2017 have yet to be announced.
