Winnabow man charged with kidnapping

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC – Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to an incident in the Winnabow area Sunday night, August 15th.

Victim, Larry Williams, a resident in the Winnabow area advised he went to Stephen Garrick’s residence located at 1170 Gales Road at approximately 7:30 pm. Williams was assaulted by Garrick and held against his will. When Williams escaped from the residence, contact was made with 911 at approximately 8:09 pm.

Deputies responded to the scene and attempted to make contact with Garrick, whom refused to come outside the residence. The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team responded and several requests for the subject to exit the residence were ignored. SWAT members deployed five rounds of CS (tear gas) inside the residence. Garrick was then escorted from the residence and taken into custody without incident.
