Woman charged after hit-and-run involving moped

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A woman is facing DWI and hit-and-run charges after police say she hit a moped and left the scene, severely injuring the driver.

The incident happened at the intersection of Market Street and 3rd Street at around 12:30 p.m. Police say Susan Tumidaj, 38, is facing charges including DWI, hit-and-run and failure to yield.

The unidentified moped driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. His condition is not known.

Police say tips from witnesses helped them locate Tumidaj’s vehicle a short time after the incident.
